Defense policy directorate
Defense policy directorate consists of three departments:
Department "Defense policy and analyses" having the folloing sectors: "Policy and strategies", "Analyses and prognoses", "Situation and information center";
Department "Collective defense and security" with the following sectors: "NATO", "European security and defense" and "Crises and coalitions";
Department "Information and security".
Functions of the directorate:
Assists the Minister of Defense in conducting and controlling the implementation of the state's policy in the sphere of defense.
Develops independently or in cooperation with other bodies and structures of the Ministry of Defense basic concept documents in the sphere of defense and security
Organizes and coordinates with other bodies and structures of Ministry of Defense the development of drafts of laws, documents of a doctrinal nature, strategies, legal acts, programs and plans.
Prepares ongoing, mid-term and long-term analyses and prognoses related to defense and security.
Surveys and analyses processes in the sphere of security, defense policy and the risk factors to the national security.
Assists the Minister of Defense in formulating the national positions in the sphere of defense with respect to NATO/the European Union.
Directs the process of participation in the work of the committees and bodies of NATO and organizes the preparation of the list of the national representatives on them.
Directs the settlement of issues related to the national defense and security policy in the functioning of the bodies working on the formation of the collective defense and security policy of the Alliance.
Assists the Minister of Defense in the process of conducting and controlling the implementation of the state's policy with respect to crises of military and non-military nature and with respect to the participation in coalition operations.
Coordinates the exchange of information between the Ministry of Defense and the structures of NATO/the European Union in accordance with the laws and the security agreements.
Builds and maintains a Central Registry NATO/European Union for accepting, registering, sending, storing, and archiving foregn classified information.
Provides the necessary publicity and transparency of the policy in the sphere of defense by utilizing modern technologies.
Maintains relations with ministries, agencies, non-governmental organizations and scientific institutions, conducting activities in the sphere of defense policy.
Maintains relations with the bodies of NATO/European Union working on the formation of the defense policy.
Organizes the conducting of national and international forums on the issues of the national security, the defense policy, and the cooperation with NATO and the European Union.
